Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and Pastelero, the company that runs Tala. We wrote them in plain language. By creating an account, you agree to them.
Last updated 3 November 2026
Your account
- You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of the children you add.
- You can add up to 4 children. You are responsible for how they use Tala on your account.
- Keep your Google account and parent PIN secure. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account.
- Give us accurate information about yourself. For your children, we only need a nickname, a Kislap colour and an age band.
Plans and payments
- The free plan costs nothing and has no time limit. We may change what it includes, and we’ll update the pricing page when we do.
- Tala Plus monthly costs $4.99 a month and renews every month until you cancel.
- Tala Plus yearly is a single payment of $39.99 for a year of Plus. It does not renew on its own.
- Our order process is run by our online reseller, Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders: when you buy Tala Plus, you buy it from Paddle, Paddle charges your card and sends your receipt, and Paddle’s buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Paddle handles payment questions and refunds together with us.
- Prices are in US dollars. Depending on where you live, sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout, and your bank may add a currency conversion fee.
- If we change the price of Plus, we will tell you before your next renewal, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
Cancelling and refunds
- You can get a full refund within 14 days of any Tala Plus payment, no questions asked: the first monthly payment, any monthly renewal, or a yearly purchase. Our refund policy explains how to ask.
- You can cancel Plus monthly anytime from the billing page in your parent area. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Plus until the end of the month you already paid for, and you are not charged again. We don’t charge cancellation fees. We don’t refund the unused part of a month you cancel partway through.
- Plus yearly never renews, so there is nothing to cancel. After 14 days it isn’t refundable, unless the law where you live says otherwise. When the year ends, your family moves to the free plan unless you buy again.
- If you think you were charged by mistake, email help@tala.kids and we will refund a mistaken charge in full. If we ever shut Tala down, we will refund any unused part of a yearly plan.
- Refunds go back to the card or payment method you paid with, through Paddle. When a payment is refunded in full, the Plus time it paid for ends.
- Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Act of the Philippines, or any other refund right the law where you live gives you.
Using Tala well
Please don’t:
- try to make Kislap produce harmful, hateful or adult content,
- share other people’s personal information in chats,
- try to break, overload or get around Tala’s security, limits or filters, or
- copy, resell or republish our lessons.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why.
What Kislap can and can’t do
- Kislap is an AI. Like every AI, it can be wrong, even when it sounds sure. That is why lesson facts come from content we write and check, not from the AI.
- Children under 6 cannot chat with Kislap freely. From age 6, Kislap is a learning helper. It is not a teacher, doctor, counsellor or emergency service, and it is not a replacement for you or your child’s school.
- For homework, Kislap gives hints and guiding questions, not finished answers.
- Our filters and safety rules reduce risks but can’t remove them all. That is why you can read every chat. Learn more on our safety page.
Who owns what
Tala’s lessons, Kislap and our designs belong to Pastelero. Your account data and your children’s data belong to you, and our privacy notice explains how we handle them.
Ending your account
You can stop using Tala at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing help@tala.kids. If we ever shut Tala down, we will give you notice and refund any unused part of a yearly plan.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep Tala available, accurate and safe, but we provide it as it is. To the extent Philippine law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 6 months before the problem.
Philippine law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. If we disagree about something, please email us first so we can try to fix it together.
Changes to these terms
If we make important changes, we will update this page and tell you before they take effect. Continuing to use Tala after that means you accept the new terms.
